Multi-Disciplinary Professionals Network (MDPN) Event
Topic: Late Diagnosis, Lived Experience & Professional Responsibility
Alice recently spoke at the Multi-Disciplinary Professionals Network (MDPN) event alongside fellow professionals, focusing on autism and ADHD.
In her talk, she shared her personal experience of late diagnosis — what it revealed, what it validated, and how it reshaped her understanding of herself. She also reflected on how that lived experience now informs her professional practice.
Having experienced assessment as both the individual being assessed and the professional conducting assessments, Alice explored:
-
The emotional weight of the assessment process
-
The impact of language, pacing, and power
-
The responsibility professionals hold when entrusted with someone’s identity and story
Her talk invited reflection on how practitioners can work more gently, thoughtfully, and neuro-affirmingly within assessment and support settings.
